Afternoon of Dance, Studio Showing.  June 14th.

The Fumballinas would like to invite our community and the general public to an afternoon of movement, singing, and getting to know each other.  Classes and schedule will be announced shortly.

We will follow the afternoon with a community potluck, and would like to put forward a call for movement/dance/theatre work to be shown in the evening.  The night will be low tech but warm hearted.  Please contact  fumballycourtstudio@gmail.com with your proposed work.

Looking forward to seeing you all!

Friday 27 September 2013

The FUMBALLINAS of Fumbally Court Studio in conjunction with Dublin Live Art Festival 2013

present

 A workshop with Liz Aggiss

Date: Friday 27 September, 2-5pm
Venue: The Back Loft
Cost: €30*

Liz Aggiss is an un-disciplined artist with an un-disciplined body of work. Since 1980 she has been a Wild Wiggler, Grotesque Dancer, Diva, Guerrilla Dancer, Trout, Golem and Performance Lecturer. Creating her work for stage and screen, Aggiss’ interdisciplinary practice is driven by content, embodies feminist dance practices and is framed by the politics that challenge and resist the ‘authority’ of formal conventions.
She studied at the Nikolais/Louis Dance Theatre Laboratory New York, and with Hanya Holm and Hilde Holger and has recently been feverishlyrecovering bodies from the library. She has an expertise in European Expressive Dance (Ausdruckstanz) and grotesque dance.
This fast tasking, quick thinking, performance-making workshop considers content and context, specificity and framing. It will consider histories and lineage and pay attention to performance skills, audience and the fourth wall. The workshop will make reference to Aggiss’ research, process and choreographic practices, and will invite participants to spread their wings, move outside the box, cross the fourth wall, grapple with the unknown. Expect to talk, critique, show off, move and be moved.
Please wear regular dance-class / clothes that are easy to move about in with your choice of bare-feet or dance-shoes. Bring some other clothing that you don’t mind messing/dancing/tugging about, that are simple, plain, uncluttered and allow movement. Bring shoes to go with this outfit – heels are fine.

Telepathic Training Centre on Sunday 7th July

I don’t know if it’s done with the mind or the body.
I don’t know much about telepathy.
Or the body’s mind, or the mindbody.
It could be that we’re all already doing telepathy all the time.
Or maybe it’s coming, something we can prepare for.
Something for the human being of the future.
Right now, the first Sunday of every month is the future.
My best guess is, you can’t do it while you’re talking.
If we’re really going to play at being telepathic,
or being responsibly telepathic,
or beautifully telepathic,
then we’ve got to stop talking.
Give ourselves a chance.
Maybe telepathy is what you do when you dance.telepathic training centre is for dancing.
It’s a club with music that mightn’t have beats. It’s a place to hang out where music is our prop as we explore the bandwidth.
It’s a Sunday afternoon chill out and come to yourself space,
